• Process Wastewater
• Nitrogen & Phosphorus

Information Needed
• Livestock Information
• Type
• Number
• Average Weight
• Confinement Period
• Wastewater, bedding & other waste volumes
• Worksheet #1 a&b
• Tables 2, 3 & 4

Example Calculation

Frank’s Feedlot

• Entry weight ~ 500 LB.
• Exit weight ~ 1,200 LB.
• On site 365 days per year
• Grain Diet

Step 1 - Calculate Average weight

* Enter in column (c) of Worksheet 1

Step 2 - Calculate # Animal Units

* Enter in column (d) of Worksheet 1.

Step 3 - Get Manure Production Rate

* Enter 8.7 LB. / day -AU in column (e) of Worksheet 1.

Step 4 - Calculate Daily Manure Production

# AUs x Production Rate = LB.s Manure / Day

* Enter in column (g) of Worksheet 1.

Step 5 - Calculate Annual Manure Production

* Enter in column (h) of Worksheet 1.

Step 6 - Get Manure Analysis

* Enter 23 LB.-N / ton in column (i) of Worksheet 1

** Enter 24 LB.-P2O5 / ton in column (j) of Worksheet 1

Step 7 - Calculate Available Nutrients

* Enter in column (k) of Worksheet 1

** Enter in column (l) of Worksheet 1

Example Calculation

Frank’s Dairy

• 300 Head Milk Cows @ 1,350 LB.s
• 90 Head Dry Cows @ 1,350 LB.s
• 40 Replacement Heifers @ 900 LB.s
• 2,000 gal. Wash water per day
• 200 LB.s hay bedding, 90 days per year
