  1. Chris Burchell – Local Economy Manager: Following a degree in Geography at the University of Durham Chris worked in financial services in the City, before joining BOC Group in Guildford in an international commercial management role. He then moved to the South East Export team at UK Trade & Investment (now the Department of International Trade) as senior manager for a team of international trade advisers supporting UK export companies through training, trade missions and international market research. Chris joined the Council in 2013 where he leads the Economic Development Team with a remit covering corporate engagement, inward investment, SME support, tourism and town centre management. Chris Stanton – Rural Economy Officer: Following careers in health service management, publishing and education technology sales, Chris joined the University of Surrey to support their business outreach, which included enterprise education to stimulate University business spin-outs by students and staff. He joined Surrey Economic Partnership in 2006 to lead on Skills Policy, experience which he developed at the Richmond Fellowship mental health charity before joining the Council in 2016 to develop its first Rural Economic Strategy. Business research and experience in the field quickly highlighted the need for better broadband connectivity, hence his involvement in producing the Council’s new Innovation Strategy 2019/20, which also includes a major focus on measures to tackle Climate Change.
