  1. Tell the World Daphne Conis

  2. Nursing! Summary • Originally, I wanted to write an article to the local newspaper about nurses working on holidays. • I changed my mind to writing an article for my high school’s newspaper, and making a public service announcement (PSA) for the morning announcements. • I contacted a freelance write to help me since I have limited experience writing for newspapers, and she also had experience writing PSAs. • I made the PSA available in Spanish as well as English. This might influence a more diverse interest in nursing and inspire Hispanics to join this wonderful field.

  3. Harrisonburg High School • I have submitted my article to the editor of the school paper and my PSAs to the broadcasting instructor. • I chose this instead because I think that high school kids should be introduced to the world of nursing early on. • My sister currently attends HHS and will inform me when my pieces are released (the newspaper only comes out once a month and has not been released for December).

  4. The Experience • Wow… I found this assignment challenging! I had a hard time coming up with ideas to “Tell the World” about nursing. • As a new nurse, I do not have a lot of experience to draw from and this stressed me. • Actually doing the work was not bad but it was hard for me to decide what I should say nursing is. It felt like such a big responsibility!

  5. Thank you.
