  2. “How come you never do anything in biotic class?” he asked her. She looked uncomfortable, but didn’t answer. “Do you even know how? I’m pretty good at biotics. I can show you a trick, if you want.” “No,” she said simply. Nick scowled. He felt like there was something going on that he didn’t quite understand, like she was making fun of him somehow. Then he got an idea. “Careful with your milk,” he said, a nasty grin spreading on his face. “Looks like it’s going to spill.” As the words left his mouth, he reached out with his mind and pushed. The milk toppled over, drenching the sandwiches and slopping over the tray onto the table before running off the edge to spill on Gillian’s lap. And then Nick found himself flying backward. • P110 • This scene shows how Gillian is not like other people and lacks social skills. Other people are always weirded out by her behavior and confront her. Being borderline Autistic she gets angry very quickly and in this scene was provoked into creating complete chaos and havoc. This event sparks up that she might need to leave the Institution and be taken somewhere safe along with other reasons I don’t want to spoil.

  3. Mr. Grayson • Addicted to a drug called “red sand” • Not the actual biological father of his daughter • His conflict is in-between what Cerberus wants him to do, what is best for Gillian, and whether he wants his daughter or his addiction • P149 You’re coming down. Can’t even move a pen. You’ll be sober in another hour if you aren’t careful. He wanted another hit, but instead he forced himself to check for incoming messages.

  4. Gillian Grayson • Borderline Autistic • Extremely powerful • Father works for a pro human group called Cerberus • It is very important what happens to her in the story because most of the main characters and their goals are too keep her safe. Some have different methods of doing so that conflict keeps occurring between main characters. • P91 Gillian was staring at the wall, lost inside herself again. “Gigi?” he said a little louder. “Daddy has to go. Okay?” Last time he left, she hadn’t even acknowledged him when he said good-bye.

  5. The illusive man • P342 “We will find you, Paul,” the Illusive Man promised in a menacing whisper. • Is the leader of Cerberus • He normally gets what he wants • Is funded by means unknown
