  3. Contents The Blitz The Blitz was when the Luftwaffe bombed London. The first day of bombing was called black Saturday, what happened on the first day and night repeated over and overagain. This is only the beginning of the blitz, it got worse than this!!!

  4. Why did the blitz start? The Blitz started because Hitler had control over Europe and his next target was Britain. So we bombed them, their response was to bomb us which was…… The Blitz! V.S

  5. Air raid and Air raid shelters This is an air raid shelter, when the siren went you would get into your shelter, if you didn’t have one then you would go in the Underground. This is another air raid shelter but…… it is called an Anderson shelter…… 3.5 million Anderson shelters were sold.

  6. BLACKOUTS The blackouts were when everyone had to block the light from outside, because Germans would know where the city was if there was light.

  7. Contents BARRAGE BALLOONS The barrage balloons were to encourage people that we would win, (e.g. a message will be attached on back : we will never surrender, or : We will win this war no matter what,) they flew over London.

  8. Gas Masks We British used to think that the Germans were going to gas us so where ever you went you Carried a gas mask with you. Gas masks stop you breathing in deadly gas, but allows you to breath normally though.

  9. ARP WARDENS ARP Wardens helped people get into shelter, they wore uniform like this.
