  1. On the road to clean air and energy security

  2. Biodiesel is Not Related to Ethanol The Differences and Advantages of Biodiesel over Ethanol • Unlike ethanol, biodiesel is not made from corn or sugar cane. At Amereco, biodiesel is made from waste cooking oil, which has no impact on the food supply. • Biodiesel powers diesel engines, while ethanol powers gasoline engines. • Biodiesel delivers 50% better mileage than ethanol. • The growing use of the more efficient diesel engines, in both commercial and personal vehicles, provides an increasing market for biodiesel.

  3. What We Do We refine low-cost non-edible fats and vegetable oils into high value biodiesel

  4. What We Don’t Do Make Fuel From Food We use only non-petroleum, non-edible, renewable feedstock in our biofuel Unlike virgin vegetable oil, Amereco’s biodiesel does not impact the food supply

  5. Why We Use Non-edible Feedstocks The Right Thing to Do Also Provides Compelling Economics BDO Price ($2.72/gal) w/o Tax Credit Approximate 12 month avg. wholesale price from EIA

  6. This is Where We Do It Amereco Plant in Arlington, Arizona

  7. Why the Biodiesel Market Will Continue to Expand • Geopolitical • Reliance on unstable foreign supply sources • Environmental pollution and global warming • Economics • U.S. diesel demand, already 60 billion gpy, is increasing • Finite petroleum supply is being depleted

  8. 14 12 Heavy Trucks 10 GAP 8 Millions of Barrels per Day Light Trucks 6 4 2 Automobiles 0 2020 1970 1980 1990 2000 2010 Why the Biodiesel Market Will Continue to Expand Fuel Demand Increases While Domestic Oil Supply Decreases Domestic Oil Production *Note: If automobiles were completely removed from this chart, we would still be in an energy deficit.

  9. Why the Biodiesel Market Will Continue to Expand Staggering Growth of World Energy Demand Outpaces U.S. Even as worldwide energy supplies from petroleum dwindle, the U.S. faces increasing competition from emerging markets

  10. Why the Biodiesel Market Will Continue to Expand Comparative energy content in BTU’s per gallon

  11. Why the Biodiesel Market Will Continue to Expand It Takes Less Energy to Make Biodiesel Than Any Other Motor Fuel The above chart indicates the energy ratio (energy required to produce the fuel vs. the energy provided by the fuel) Example: BDO produces 3.2x as much energy as it takes to produce it

  12. Why the Biodiesel Market Will Continue to Expand Large Reduction in Harmful Emissions

  13. The Diesel Engine is Vital to Transportation Worldwide Photos courtesy of Daimler Trucks North America & Union Pacific RR Diesel engines.... • move 94% of U.S. freight • power 95% of transit buses • power 95% of emergency vehicles • power 66% of farm equipment • are more efficient by 30% - 200% • are more durable than gasoline engines by 50% - 300% If diesel engines were not available, freight companies would require 50% more trucks & drivers to haul freight

  14. Consumer Demand for Diesel Engines Will Increase Dramatically Just As In Europe Industry has adopted the diesel engine for its superior durability and fuel efficiency. The U.S. public is slowly coming on board. The U.S. needs to follow the European model of moving toward the public usage of diesel engines (from 15% to 50+% in just 15 years).

  15. And We Can Tame the Diesel Engine’s Pollution Further Lowering Petroleum Consumption A domestically produced, clean burning Biodiesel both displaces some petro-diesel and teamed with new engine designs, reduces harmful exhaust pollution by as much as 90%

  16. Advantages of Biodiesel Over Other Alternative Fuels Biodiesel: A Clean Burning American Fuel • Uses current infrastructure: no special mobile equipment, ground fueling equipment, or safety requirements • Better mileage and more power than other alternative fuels • Improved resale value of vehicle powered by BDO • Improved engine lubricity and performance • Any vehicle using a blend of 20% or more biodiesel qualifies under government mandates as an alternative fuel vehicle

  17. Federal and State Governments Have Made Clean Air and Energy Security a Top Priority Which Will Continue to “Fuel” the Market for Biodiesel • Federal legislation will continue to increase the demand for use of biodiesel • 5 States are already mandating a biodiesel blend (Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Oregon and Washington) • Mandate proposal coming in 2008 for Arizona and many other states • Government agencies and fleet managers are required to use alternative fuels

  18. Amereco’s Aggressive Approach to Quality Assurance • At least 22 analytic tests in-process • Support of Arizona State University & its Environmental Chemistry Dept. • Routine ASTM analysis performed by an EPA registered independent laboratory • BQ-9000 certification in process • Control samples provided to user with every delivery

  19. Amereco’s Regional Advantage The Field is Wide Open First Producer in the State and One of the Very Few West Coast Producers Amereco Biofuels As of January 25, 2008 per National Biodiesel Board

  20. Amereco’s Competitive Advantage Undeniably Compelling Economics • Lower Capital Costs • The NBB says the average capital cost is $1.00/gpy • Amereco’s capital cost/gpy is around a dime! • Lower Material Cost More Than Offsets Higher Process Cost • Crude soy, the feedstock of choice for 90+% of U.S. processors, costs 55 cents/lb ($4.125/gallon) • Amereco is paying an average of 20 cents/lb ($1.50/gallon) for high-FFA waste vegetable oil • Quality control to industry standard ASTM D6751-07b • Branded product, with a clarity to support its quality • Only biodiesel plant in Arizona using waste products

  21. Exit Strategy Amereco Has Positioned Its Shares for the Public Market… Public market for biodiesel appears strong, but if a better alternative emerges, such as merger, sale, distribution of available cash flow, or taking on debt to return shareholder’s capital, we’ll take advantage of them
