Nouns ending in a VOWEL • In Spanish, nouns ending in a vowel (a,e,i,o,u) form the plural by adding the letter -s at the end.
For Example: SingularPlural la casa --> las casas la clase --> las clases el hijo --> loshijos
Nouns ending in CONSONANTS • In Spanish, if a noun ends in a consonant, add the letters -es to form the plural.
For Example: SingularPlural el doctor --> los doctores el tren --> los trenes la mujer --> las mujeres
Words ending in -z • If a word ends in -z you must change the -z to -c and then add the -es ending. • For example: lápiz ---> lápices
Don’t Forget! • The articles el and la must also be plural! • el ---> los • la ---> las
