Five Things to do before you Board your Dog

It can be stressful for both you and your canine companions to stay at a different place apart from home, when you are not there. Considering that boarding frequently coincides with the sudden disruption (or turmoil) of human travel, we sometimes overlook what we need to bring for our dogs. Whether you're leaving your dog at a kennel or a friend's house, you should make sure you have a few necessities on hand. Making sure your dog is secure and at ease, while you're away is the goal. In this manner, you may enjoy your vacations carefree knowing that your dog is in capable hands.

  1. Five Things to do before you Board your Dog It can be stressful for both you and your canine companions to stay at a different place apart from home, when you are not there. A break is always necessary to renew your spirit and clear your mind. At different stages of life, it helps us to discover new experiences and release the stress of a busy life. To reduce your dog's clumsiness and irritating behaviour, they too need a rest. You have a duty as a pet parent to give your dog pleasurable and deserving pet care. They also deserve a rejuvenating trip. So, what does every dog owner bring for their pet's boarding trip? 1. Talk to the Boarding- Call the kennel and conduct an interview. Ask for references and find out how long they have been in operation. Cite those sources before you schedule to drop your dog and pay a surprise visit or take a tour of the facility. Look at how clean and fresh everything is, how it smells, where the dogs are boarded, where they are walking, and whether or not they appear to be happy. Do any dogs' cages contain messes? 2. Look for Recommendations- Before choosing a kennel for your pet, consult with a couple of them. Additionally, find out where your friends or neighbours have boarded their pets and about their experiences by asking them. Recommendations are quite helpful. 3. Determine Kennel Requirements- Certain kennels demand that animals should receive specific vaccinations. Always make sure what vaccinations your dog kennels have asked for and what documentation is needed. You'll also want to know if you'll need to bring your snacks and meals or if they'll supply them. Asking whether you may leave their favourite toy or blanket with them is an excellent idea because many pets have one. 4. Veterinary Services- Find out if the personnel is consistent; does the same person see your dog every day or is it a different individual? Does the vet possess special qualifications and degrees to vaccinate your dog? Does the personnel seem knowledgeable and like they appreciate working with the dogs? All these things are important to ensure the well-being of your dog. 5. Feeding Procedure- It is not a good idea to temporarily alter your dog’s diet. This is because it may take some time for their digestive system to adjust, and by the time it

  2. does, it is usually time to return to the meal they were originally eating. See what foods the dog boarding facility of your choice can provide. If the brand is different from the one your dog is currently eating, see if you may bring your own. Make sure to bring more than you need—you can always take any extras home. Consider bringing your dog's food and asking the kennel to exclusively serve it to him. Many pets receive treats and other foods in addition to their regular food, which can cause digestive problems like vomiting and/or diarrhoea. Keep things as they are—your pet is already in a new setting, which is probably a little stressful. Don't make any unnecessary changes. We are aware that boarding your dog for the first time can be challenging. When getting ready to leave your dog, consider these practical suggestions, and you'll both be able to stay comfortable and can enjoy the vacations. The above stated are just ideas to get a conversation started; you must let the facility staff know about your pet's needs and habits when boarding them. Ask lots of inquiries because different pets have different demands. After all, you are the one who knows your pet the best. Do you want to know more about what to anticipate before, during, and after picking your dog? Our knowledgeable and amiable boarding staff at Warley Cross Kennels and Cattery would be pleased to assist.
