  2. Shoulder The shoulder is made up of four distinct joints: The scapulo -humeral, the sternum clavicle, the acromion claveare and the thoracic scapula . rotates on the glenoid cavity of the scapula. This, unlike the acetabular cavity of the hip joint, is shallow and therefore relatively unstable. Poor joint congruence allows for an extremely wide range of motion. Joint stability is ensured by static (glenoid labrum, joint capsule and glenohumeral ligaments) and dynamic structures (rotator cuff muscles and scapular stabilizers). Knee Replacement In addition to primary arthrosis, joint degradation may depend on rheumatoid arthritis, osteonecrosis, surgical outcomes or post traumatic pathology. When pharmacological, infiltrative or physiotherapeutic treatments are no longer beneficial, knee replacement is indicated . The prosthesis can be unicompartmental or total. These types of prostheses retain the original knee ligaments for their own stability. In cases of reoperation, it may be necessary to use a prosthesis constrained with intramedullary stems.
