What is Bharat Bill Payment System? • BBPS or Bharat Bill Payment System is a system launched by RBI aimed at easing the payment of bills across geographies. • Along with bill payments, BBPS improves the security and speed of payments with the help of the central unit (BBPCU) & operating units (BBPOUs). • The service of BBPS is available in multiple modes of payment; online and through a network of agents. • The usage of BBPS will transform the way payments are done; from cash to electronic payments. • Here, the NPCI acts as the Bharat Bill Pay Central Unit (BBPCU) and banks & non-bank entities will play the role of the Bharat Bill Pay Operating Units (BBPOU). • With BBPS, bill payments are integrated and interoperable with the added benefit of security, certainty and reliability of transactions performed. BBPS - Main Objectives • BBPS is accessible from anywhere, at anytime, making it very convenient for the customers. • Reliable services of BBPS will increase the trust of the customers. • As an added advantage, BBPS offers various modes of payment. • System gives instant confirmation for bill payments making it easy to verify the transactions.

  4. BBPS is integrated with V-Mobile banking. Steps to pay bills with BBPS and V-Mobile banking • Log-in to the V-Mobile banking app. • Select the Bharat Bill Payment option. • Select the account from which money has to be debited and enter the MPIN when prompted. • Select the Biller category from the given options in the screen. • Enter the biller details and click view to see the bill details. • Click on the pay option to proceed towards the payment. • Payment confirmation message will be displayed on the next screen and customer has the option to take print-out of the confirmation screen. • Other features of the app include; transaction history, option to view bills, facility to lodge complaints and also to track complaint status. Utility bills that I can pay using BBPS? • Currently you can pay the following bills using BBPS - Electricity, Telecom (Landline Post-paid, Mobile post-paid and Broad-band Post-paid), Gas, Water and DTH. • Transaction charges? • Nil charges for electronic transactions done at customers’ own bank. • Different modes of payment under BBPS? • BBPS supports Cash, Cards (Credit, Debit & Prepaid), IMPS, UPI, AEPS, Internet Banking & Wallets. • Different payment channels under BBPS? • BBPS supports both online and offline channels. Online channels like Internet, Internet banking, Mobile, Mobile banking, POS (Point of Sale terminal), MPOS (Mobile Point of Sale terminal), KIOSK and Offline channels like ATM, Bank Branch, Agents and Business Correspondents.
