  1. November 16, 2017 Toyota Dealer Advises Car Owners to Do These Auto Maintenance Regularly There are two ways a car owner can perform a routine maintenance: at home or at a dealership service center. However, both are equally important. Several types of maintenance can be easily performed at home, such as checking light functions or adding up the wiper fluid. But other types of maintenance require a more professional skill set, which you can get from the auto service provided by your Toyota dealer. This is especially true when you have found a problem you cannot fix. Page | 1

  2. Ideally, auto service at a dealership should be performed once or twice a year. This is to prevent further damage or failure should there be parts that need to be fixed or replaced. Here are some of the things experts check during your auto service appointment. Braking System Braking system failures can cause devastating accidents. As a vehicle’s braking system consists of many components—among which are brake fluid, brake shoes, brake lines, and brake pads— the analysis and detection should only be done by a professional. Typically, they will start by looking at the brake warning light at the dashboard to check for anything out of the ordinary. They will also listen to unusual noises coming from the car and take it for a test drive to see if there are signs of bad brakes. Oil Level A car is comprised of several moving parts. To make sure those parts run smoothly, lubricating oil is needed. If the amount of oil present is insufficient, your car may break down from wear or excessive heat. You can check the oil level at home by inserting a dipstick into the reservoir. Oil change must also be done on a regular basis by a professional. By reading the user’s manual, you can find out when you must change the oil for your particular vehicle. For example, your car’s manufacturer may instruct you to change the oil every 5,000 miles or 10,000 miles. Aside from oil level, other fluid levels that needs to be monitored are power steering and transmission fluid level. Filters During regular auto service, your filters will also be checked, such as the oil filter and air filter. In the case of air filter, you can attempt to check this on your own. Ideally, this should be done monthly. A clogged air filter is not only bad for your health but also may affect your car’s fuel efficiency. There are a lot of components that will be checked during a regular auto service. The experts at the dealership will inspect everything for you, including the exhaust system, the air conditioning system, the transmission, the power steering, etc. If you detect a problem in your car while performing maintenance, don’t hesitate to bring it to a professional auto repair service straightaway.
