  2. What is it about Characters : Mother, father, son Set : home setting About a son joining the army following the FOOTSTEPS of his father Here the son is pictured holding an image of his father in his army uniform

  3. Lighting • Starts with very warm lighting suggesting a warm family environment • Lighting becomes cooler when the character of the father is no longer in the shots

  4. Sound • The same song plays throughout to create a continuous story line • “The Only Thing”- Sufjan Stevens • It’s a calming song with sad undertones • There is no dialogue, so the actions speak for themselves and the plot line is shown through actions

  5. Costumes • The costumes are very subtle and don’t draw attention away from the characters and their acting. • The army uniform is the central costume it is shown on the character of the father in his picture and on the son in the closing scene

  6. Shots • All transitions are very smooth, for example, when the dad walks towards the camera and it cuts to a scene set later on in the child's life • Some shots are zoomed in on the mothers face emphasizing ng her sadness and further showing her character response to the situation

  7. Set Design • The room design changes as the boy grows up to emphasize change in time.

  8. What could be improved • The use of dialogue could more engaging and effective for the story line, perhaps when the boy was leaving for the army. • For the opening shot it could have cut straight to them putting the baby in the cradle for a more powerful beginning scene. • There could be more light focus on the boy when he is in the bed with his fathers photo
