  1. Showing Hospitality - What does it mean? Hospitality has become the buzz word of our times. People from all walks of life--from business tycoons to stay-at-home moms are visiting their favorite restaurants. Why? Because they're not running businesses; instead, they're on a "get out there" mission for a good time. And, at the end of the trip, why not leave and have a great time: visit a hotel that you've been recommended to, maybe take in the sights and sounds of the area, perhaps engage in a little local cuisine and shopping, then get back to your own hotel room! Hospitality isn't just about pampering guests and making sure they have a good time. It also is about extending a warm welcome and making them feel at home. Hospitality is the unique relationship between a host and a guest, wherein the host makes the guest feel at home, having done something meaningful that the guest appreciates. As hospitality professionals put it: hospitality is the exchange of valuable services and experiences to create lasting relationships. In fact, a tourist to any city in the world can easily identify the hospitality of the local people; their warmth, their smiles, and their warmth toward guests who are just passing through. And, the hotel and the guest are known to be associated in most Greek societies; the hotel being a place where the guests are most welcome, while the inn being a place of rest and relaxation for those who are staying a little longer. In this way, hospitality is considered to be a key element of Greek culture. When it comes to creating a hospitality environment, a hotel manager must be cognizant of the culture of the area and surrounding cities in which the hotel is located. If a manager

This can be achieved by creating a welcoming environment in the establishment itself. For example: one of the best ways to create a welcoming environment for a new guest is to include information about the city and region that the hotel is located in on the hotel website. Frequently, this information may be displayed in a pop-up box next to the front desk or in the lobby itself. This information is very important because it gives the new visitor a sense of familiarity with the region. Furthermore, the information also gives the visitor a glimpse of the accommodations, amenities, and even the cuisine of the hotel. The hotel manager will find that hospitality management positions are a lot more than just food servers. In some instances, a hospitality manager will take over the daily managerial duties of the executive chef. This allows the chef time to focus on the creative aspects of hospitality jobs and allows the chef to collaborate with the other departments of the hotel. Furthermore, the chef may have the opportunity to run some specific special events. Another facet of hospitality jobs that is often not considered is the public relations aspect of hospitality. When a person thinks about their favorite place to eat, they typically imagine a warm, friendly atmosphere. This is just what the public needs when they are visiting any establishment. To make sure the general public is satisfied with their visit, hospitality management graduates should work closely with their management team to ensure that the guest experience is exceptional. The hospitality industry is known for providing excellent customer service, which is essential if customers want to return. If they don't feel valued, they will most likely go elsewhere. With today's advancements in technology, hospitality has taken on a digital age theme. This can be found almost everywhere from advertising to the hotel suite reservations and even the showroom appointments. There are a number of ways that hotels can advertise their existence online. Many hotels are taking advantage of social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The goal is to get the name of the hotel and the name of the place of interest known to the public, which is one of the top elements to show hospitality. As the hospitality industry increases its popularity and more guests utilize these services on a regular basis, the hospitality industry will see continued growth. This is an exciting time to work in this field because hospitality jobs are likely to increase in demand as the world becomes more popular. In addition, hospitality graduates have a bright future because they can pursue careers related to event planning, hospitality management, or client service. All of these career options will allow a person to truly shine and show their hospitality skills. The future of the hospitality industry looks strong and bright.
