  1. Garam Masala

  2. Garam Masala • Garam Masala literally means ‘warm spice blend’. It’s a versatile and aromatic blend of ground spices. You would be hard-pressed to find an Indian or South Asian kitchen without their family blend of homemade Garam Masala. This ubiquitous spice is used for its earthy, sweet and savoury, warming flavour and mouthfeel. It usually does not contain any chilli. • We guarantee the purity and quality of our Garam Masala spice mix by using selected organic whole spices, sourced from India. Our Garam Masala is formulated to a traditional family recipe - one which was passed down from my grandmother.

  3. Spice Zen’s Garam Masala makes a magical difference to all sorts of dishes by adding sweetness, heat, complexity and texture. Our Garam Masala is chilli-free – the warming effect comes from the pungent natural essential oils of the spices. It is best when added towards the end of cooking as a seasoning or use it as a garnish when serving. • Garam Masala can be used in curries, fish, meat dishes, hearty vegetable dishes, lentils, lamb, pork, vegetables, beans, eggplants, potatoes and sweet potatoes, vegetable sautés, marinades, mayonnaise and salad dressings. It is also used to season the flour when baking bread, sprinkled over cut winter squash before baking, used as a dry rub for meats before grilling and added to desserts such as ice creams, pies and cookies. Add a pinch of Garam Masala for a bit of divine inspiration in your morning coffee!

  4. Balancing the spices is an art which ensures that each ingredient works together and no single flavour overpowers the spice blend. We dry roast and stoneground the spices, on receipt of your order, to bring out an intense flavour and aroma released by the natural, essential oils seeping from the crushed spices. Stoneground spices have a naturally uneven, earthy texture that adds to the rustic mouthfeel. • The fresh, handcrafted Garam Masala is immediately packed in a recyclable, amber coloured glass jar, with an airtight induction seal, to keep in the freshness - you will get a strong whiff of the fresh spice blend as soon as you open the jar.
