Exogenous latent variables 4 Exogenous latent variables (or) Independent variables ✓ They cause fluctuations in the values of other latent variables in the model. ✓ Changes in the values of exogenous variables are not explained by the model. Examples: External factors (Gender, Age and Socioeconomic status) to the model.

  5. Endogenous latent variables 5 Endogenous latent variables (or) Dependent variables ✓ Endogenous variables are influenced by the exogenous variables in the model, either directly or indirectly. ✓ Fluctuation in the values of endogenous variables is said to be explained by the model. ✓ All latent variables that influence them are included in the model specification. Examples: In a study to determine whether how long a student sleeps affects test scores, the independent variable is length of time spent sleeping while the dependent variable is the test score.
