NAMSS Strategic Direction • Partnerships: With regulatory, professional and state organizations to influence decisions that will impact our profession. • Certification: NAMSS advocates for recognition of professional certification to influence the importance of defining competencies of the MSP to regulatory bodies, accrediting organizations and employers. • Education: Provide Education that is practical, emphasize best practices and solutions, is competitively priced, is tangible and specific and shares ideas for different settings.

5. Partnerships • NAMSS - Committed to strengthening relationships with State Associations • NAMSS - Focused on increasing and strengthening formal partnerships with other healthcare and professional groups

6. What Are We Doing? • Developing a toolkit for member recruitment at the state level. Spring - 2009 • Continuing participation in formal alliances and task forces. Example: The Joint Commission • Training strategic liaisons to effectively communicate NAMSS’ mission and policy goals to organizations such as NAHQ, ASHHRA and AMA-OMSS

9. Certification • NAMSS is committed to increasing new candidates for CPCS & CPMSM Certification • NAMSS will continue aggressively promoting certification at state meetings and proactively seek other opportunities to emphasize the value of being certified • NAMSS seeks to retain certified professionals as of December 15, 2008

10. What Are We Doing? • NAMSS has achieved NCCA accreditation for the CPCS and CPMSM certifications. • NAMSS CCN completed a job task analysis which was used to develop the newest versions of the certification exams • Implementing a Certificant Referral Program to increase certificant candidates

11. Education • NAMSS is dedicated to supporting MSPs throughout their professional lifecycle • NAMSS has invested in research to support education program development • Maturing workforce = need for engaging newcomers to sustain profession and NAMSS

12. What is NAMSS Doing? • In 2009-2010 NAMSS will be launching a series of web based courses that will meet the needs of newcomers to the profession • In 2008 NAMSS launched a CPCS Prep Course • In 2009 NAMSS will be launching a CPMSM Prep Course
