What are the benefits of using non-woven fabric

Nonwoven fabrics are materials made from staple fibre and long fibres. It is bonded through different processes such as mechanical, chemical, thermal or solvent treatment. It is a major raw material in the textile manufacturing industry which are neither woven nor knitted, as its name suggests. The market size of Global Nonwoven Fabrics has acquired a value of $ 40.50 billion in 2020. In the year 2028, it will reach $ 70.63 billion. Due to major applications in the end-user sectors, the demand for nonwoven fabrics is propelling. <br>

  1. What are the benefits of using non-woven fabric? Nonwoven fabrics are materials made from staple fibre and long fibres. It is bonded through different processes such as mechanical, chemical, thermal or solvent treatment. It is a major raw material in the textile manufacturing industry which are neither woven nor knitted, as its name suggests. The market size of Global Nonwoven Fabrics has acquired a value of $ 40.50 billion in 2020. In the year 2028, it will reach $ 70.63 billion. Due to major applications in the end-user sectors, the demand for nonwoven fabrics is propelling. General Benefits Of Non-Woven Fabric Light Weight Material The Non woven Fabric is quite different from general textiles in material composition. The major fibres used in the non-woven fabrics are 62 % of polypropylene and 24 % of polyester, and 8 % of viscose fibre. Due to its lightweight nature, it ensures higher breathability and flexibility. Besides, it also has good stretchability. Therefore, the fabric is different from ordinary textiles.

  2. Non-Irritating And Non Toxic Property The non-woven fabrics have non-toxic and non-irritating properties. It is manufactured with food-grade raw materials approved by FDA. It doesn’t consist of harmful chemical contents. It shows stable performance with odourless and non-irritating nature. Therefore, the end-users highly prefer other fabrics. Anti-bacterial Property The fabric has antibacterial properties with excellent potential. It has a complete antimicrobial property which can resist microbes like bacteria, fungi and algae. The fabric contains antimicrobial additives which can interfere with the cellular metabolism of the microbe. Therefore, the non-woven fabric is fresh, hygienic and germ-free. Anti-Chemical Agents The polypropylene content in the Non woven Fabric is a chemically blunt substance. Therefore, it is resistant to harmful chemicals and other compounds. Softness The non-woven fabric is composed of fibres of 2-3D. The material is formed by light hot-melt bonding. Therefore, the final product is soft and comfortable. Great Physical Properties Without being woven, the fibres are spun directly into thermal bonding products. Therefore, the end product strength is higher than the general staple fibre products. Due to its great strength, it has major applications in industrial sectors. Water Repellent The non-woven fabric is water repellent, and it doesn’t absorb water. The moisture content of the fabric is zero, with higher water-repellent properties. The material is composed of 100 % fibre and has good air permeability. Due to this property, it is easy to wash and dry. How Is The Environment Friendly Nature Driving The Fabric’s Demand? Due to the rising pollution and environmental disasters, people are highly concerned about it. The public is aware of the problems and inclined towards eco-friendly products. Even in the case of fabric selection, the public prefers eco-friendly ones. The non-woven fabric has environmentally friendly properties compared to other fabrics like plastic.

  3. The raw material used in the Non woven Fabric is polypropylene, while in plastic bags is polyethylene. The chemical structures of both raw materials are different. Polyethylene has a highly stable chemical molecular structure which is very difficult to degrade. This is why plastic bags take 300 years to decompose completely. Polypropylene’s chemical structure is not strong enough, and its molecular chain can be broken easily. Therefore, it takes less time to degrade, and the best thing about it is that it enters the next step of an environmental cycle in a non-toxic form. A non-woven bag can be decomposed within 90 days. Moreover, the non-woven bag can be recycled or reused 10 times. Therefore, the pollution degree of non-woven fabric is quite less than that of plastic. In terms of environmental protection, polypropylene is the raw material of most non woven fabrics, while polyethene is the raw material of plastic bags. Due to these environmental friendly properties, non-woven products are highly adopted and utilized. The textile industry prefers it as the major product for manufacturing different end products for various sectors. It is chosen over plastic products. The non woven bags are now popular in the market and among the public. In the future, the demand for non woven fabric will increase, further leading to extensive market growth. Currently, various sectors, including the medical, automobile etc., are utilizing the non woven fabric products. All the above benefits and advantages show that the fabric is worth its rising market demand.
