Softball Coaching Tips for Your Softball Coaching Tips for Your Practice Practice For properly coaching any fastpitch Softball player is really hard, but at the same time that task is actually far less difficult as compared to pitching. Any young pitcher who is looking for some guidance and trying to learn difficult, challenging position of the field is not at all easy. Even many parents struggle to teach the softball pitching tactics with training aids since it is somewhat different as compared to overhand throw or other Softball pitching mechanics young players learned growing up. As a coach you need to be very careful about proper techniques by not over-instructing any young talent on the field. Giving too much instruction with complicated piece of advice can ruin player’s concentration and that can ultimately generate negative results in circle. So the best thing to do is to keep it very simple by applying following methods:
Set proper Pitching Stance If any of your young players is participating in league tournament of softball then the pivot foot has to be on pitcher’s plate if he/she is a fastpitch softball pitcher. It is a good thing to have player’s pivot foot’s arch touches the front edge of plate with feet shoulder-width apart. For keeping it perfect the legs should be under good, solid base. Starting & Rotation matters a lot There are different ways to head start your motion, but the simplest one can be having your young talents swing their fastpitch pitching hand with ball down-past their hips & into the backswing. After getting good terms with hand movement forward, your pitcher should shift his/her body weight from his back leg to the push-off leg. Just like a sprinter standing in starting block the pitcher should be using plate to drive off pivot foot. The thumb rule is to reminding them about everything present on the Softball training aids like glove, ball, and stride foot towards the catcher with power line. Finish & Follow-Through The pitcher’s arm should be relaxed & should follow-through the target. There are many players who stay on “lock down” or “muscle” for pitch but to stay loose is the best they can do. Throughout the pitch, young talented pitcher needs to stand tall with body’s positioning be firm. Now, pay attention to the pitcher’s head & determine whether the body’s positioning is centred or it is driving to glove at the time of pitching? As a coach, you need to look for the stride length as well because it has to be neither too long nor too short. Overall the key here is to maintain balance & power.
Changing the Targets If your player is struggling hard in the circle & at the same time consistently going off the target then as a coach you should not make mistake of flooding the pitcher with constant corrections. As a softball gifts from your side, you can tell her to be focused on targeting catcher’s left knee or the gloves. You need to remember that as a coach, your core responsibility is to have her comfort mode on with little laughter on the go and following your direction. Source Link: https://bit.ly/38ycVUl
