  2. 1. Remove All Hooks and Curtain Weight Remove all hooks and curtain weights and loosen the heading tape. Let down the hem if the fabric is likely to shrink slightly. Shake to remove dust.

  3. 2. Soak The Curtains in Cold Water • Soak the curtains in cold water. Then wash carefully, according to the type of fabric. If hand-washing, make sure the detergent is thoroughly dissolved before immersing the curtains. Do not rub or wring.

  4. 3. Squeeze Out Water From Curtains • Rinse thoroughly. Squeeze out as much water as possible, or use a short washing machine spin. If machine-washing, use a program for delicates.

  5. 4. Iron The Curtains While Damp • You should iron the curtains while still damp. Work lengthways, on the wrong side, stretching the fabric gently to stop the seams puckering. Hang the curtains while slightly damp so they drop to the right length.
