  1. What to Expect While Learning at KNU Open University

  2. KNU Open University is public distance learning at the same time a research university. It is now becoming the best way that students get an education as undergraduate. The number of the undergraduate students is based on the study off campus for both the postgraduate and undergraduate while they can also attend the schools wherever they are in the entire world. You can find a number of research students both on the university campus and outside. This outside can use the OU facilities.

  3. The university uses different methods in teaching, and it includes audio and written materials, disc- based software, television program recorded on DVD and the internet. The materials include the originally authored work which is done by the university and external academic contributors from the third party licensed that are meant to be used by the OU students.

  4. In most modules, the students can be supported by the tutors or associated lecturers who offer the feedback on the work, and they are available for face to face tutorials, telephone or the internet. Sometime the course can be available online, and they may not have an assigned tutor only conferencing service or internet forum if there is a need to get help with advice through the moderators.

  5. There are some modules which may have mandatory day schools while others may have some sessions that the students has to attend so that he can pass the module. There are others that require the workshop and schools attendance for practical issues, counseling and communication skills. However, other courses may not have any face to face mandatory components.

  6. There are modules which offer traditional week-long summer school, and this is an opportunity for the students of removing themselves any distraction in their lives and to focus more on the study for some time.

  7. The school may decide to separate the residential modules against these that are offered as long distance modules. The exemption against attending the school is now alternative learning experience, and it is given to students who are disabled or for these who have a problem attending the schools.

  8. The KNU Open University produces programs that aim at bringing the learning to a wider audience. In the early years, many were from the filmed lectures and documentaries. Now there are programming that has been mainstreamed, and they can be broadcasted in the peak hour.

  9. The assessment of the university takes place by using coursework and examination. This course work takes the form of two or seven tutors that are marked as assignments. It can also include six multiple choices of the missing word or interactive computer-marked assignment. Examinable components may be proctored for three hours regardless of the size of modules even if the module may be a three-hour paper.

  10. Some of the modules have the End of Module Assessment which is the same as TMA. They are normally at home, but they are considered to be an exam for the grading reasons. • The degrees given are called Open degrees and it is because the syllabus had been designed only to work for distance learning.
