NGO Strategy Conference, December 15-16 Objectives • Increase NGO participation (additional major groups - youth, women) • Last chance for NGO input into Ministerial outputs • Debate draft NGO statement • Share case studies to prepare for Budapest Ministerial Roundtable • Prepare Healthy Planet Forum (workshops, NGO caucus, exhibition, youth events, media work) EPHA, Road to Budapest presentation

  4. NGO Strategy Conference, December 15-16 • Supported by UK and Belgium governments • Launch health and environment week in Belgium • Travel grants provided for 38 participants (23 countries) from from CEE, NIS and Southern Europe and Healthy Planet Forum Steering Committee (from 62 applicants) • Over 70 registered participants and growing EPHA, Road to Budapest presentation

NGO Strategy Conference, December 15-16 • Registrations from the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Greece,Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Macedonia, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Crna Gora, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Uzbekistan …. 29 so far EPHA, Road to Budapest presentation

  6. How can ministries facilitate NGO involvement/participation? • Disseminate NGO Strategy Conference announcement and report to national, local groups • National consultations before Budapest • Provide funding for NGOs to organise workshops, present projects, etc at Healthy Planet Forum • Bring NGOs as delegates to Budapest EPHA, Road to Budapest presentation

  7. Civil Society Plans for Budapest:Ministerial Conference • Roundtable: Civil society/children • Major groups as speakers in sessions • Rotation of civil society delegates in conference (50) • Lunch side event: ie, endocrine disrupting chemicals, presentation by leading scientist • Exhibition space for Healthy Planet events EPHA, Road to Budapest presentation

  8. Civil Society Plans for Budapest:Ministerial Conference: Roundtable proposal • Aim - highlight case studies already happening that relate to action points (for example, air quality, water, mobility, chemicals)- bring CEHAPE to life, easier to understand for public, media • Format: Short presentations from Ministers, NGOs, children, other stakeholders EPHA, Road to Budapest presentation

  9. Civil Society Plans for Budapest:Healthy Planet Forum • Plenary session/NGO caucus • Present NGO statement to media/delegates/participants • Workshops (eg,Phthlates and newborns, chemicals, epidemiology for community groups, disadvantaged groups) • Organise press events EPHA, Road to Budapest presentation
