  1. Avon Automotive News • Management Led Buyout. • On August 21st Avon Automotive closed its management-led buyout with Avon Rubber p.l.c., acquiring the firm's automotive division with a renewed commitment to outstanding product quality and customer service. • Avon Automotive becomes one of the industry's leading global suppliers of low-pressure hoses for air-induction, fuel and coolant systems as well as vibration-management products. • The business generates net annual revenue of approximately $349 million. It primarily serves the automotive, heavy truck, small engine and recreational vehicle industries. • Red Diamond Capital is the partner for this transaction. Formed in 2002, Red Diamond Capital is an independent $150 million private equity fund that invests in middle market manufacturing, distribution and service businesses in North America.   Through their partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation, one of Japan’s leading businesses, Red Diamond offers a unique mix of strategic resources, industry-focused capital, and management expertise that will help fuel the growth of Avon Automotive.

  2. Powertrain Mounts • Rubber / Metal Mount - used to provide a lower cost mounting • Applications: • engine / gearbox / differential mounts • Passive Hydraulic Mount - used to provide improved ride comfort while maintaining acoustic isolation • Applications: • engine mounts - transverse and longitudinal installations • gearbox mounts - particularly longitudinal installations • Semi-active Hydraulic Mounts - used to provide all the benefits of passive hydraulic mount together with improved idle isolation • Applications: • engine and gearbox mounts- particularly longitudinally installed diesel and direct injection petrol engines. • Dual Isolation Mounts -used to provide improved isolation at higher frequencies • Applications: • can be combined with any of the above mounts - particularly used where secondary isolation of a subframe / cradle is not available • Active engine mount - Vibramount® • Applications: • Combines classic hydraulic performance with patented closed loop active control. The first fully closed loop active mount in production.

  3. Hydraulic Engine Mount – low stiffness range with airspring. Passive hydraulic engine mount for in-line or transverse engine applications. Applications: Petrol or Diesel engines Static Stiffness Range: 120 – 210 N/mmLoss Angle tuning range: 5 – 15Hz

  4. Hydraulic Engine Mount – medium stiffness range with airspring. Passive hydraulic engine mount for in-line or transverse engine applications. Applications: Petrol or Diesel engines Static Stiffness Range: 200 – 450 N/mmLoss Angle tuning range: 5 – 15Hz

  5. Dual Isolation Hydraulic Engine Mount Dual Isolation devices offer excellent high frequency noise performance with no compromise to the hydraulic performance of the mount. Static Stiffness Range: 200 – 450 N/mm Loss Angle tuning range: 5 – 15Hz Application: Petrol or Diesel engines

  6. Semi-Active Gearbox Mount Two state, solenoid-switching, hydraulic gearbox mount providing improved idle refinement with no ride compromise. Static Stiffness Range: 150 – 250 N/mm Loss Angle tuning range: 5 – 15Hz Application: Petrol or Diesel-engined vehicles Dynamic Stiffness @ 40Hz: Idle up to 50% less than Ride

  7. Semi-Active Engine Mount Two state, electrically switched, hydraulic engine mount providing improved idle refinement with no ride compromise. Static Stiffness Range: 150 – 400 N/mm Loss Angle tuning range: 5 – 15Hz Application: Diesel or Fuel-stratified engines Dynamic Stiffness @ 40Hz: Idle up to 50% less than Ride

  8. Dual Isolation Semi-Active Engine Mount Dual Isolation devices offer excellent high frequency noise performance with two state, solenoid-switching providing improved idle refinement with no ride compromise. Static Stiffness Range: 350 – 550 N/mm Loss Angle tuning range: 5 – 15Hz Application: Diesel or Fuel-stratified engines

  9. Active Mount – VIBRAMOUNT® • Active Performance: • Achieves cancellation using patented control up to 750 Hz • Cancellation over up to 20 engine orders • Active & Passive elements work synchronously • Intelligently adapts to changes in physical vehicle conditions • Enables enhancement of vehicle “soundtrack” through emphasis of selected engine orders • Physical Summary: • Height 128mm • Max Power Required 80 Watts • Weight 2.3 kg • Output of 120 N • Passive Performance: • Identical performance to hydraulic mount Chassis Vibration Measurements: Mount Off Mount On : Isolation Mode Mount On : Isolation with 4th Order enhanced to improve “soundtrack”

  10. Suspension Bushes • Applications: • Damper bushes • Engine torque rods • Low cost suspension arms Single Bonded Bushes Provides a low cost pivot • Applications: • Damper bushes • Suspension arms, where there is insufficient support for a single bonded bush Double Bonded Bushes Provides a controlled stiffness pivot • Applications: • High articulation positions • Multi-link sports suspensions Interleaved Bushes Provides a controlled stiffness pivot with low torsional stiffness • Applications: • Front suspension compliance bushes • Rear suspension trailing arm bushes • Subframe mountings Hydraulic Bushes Provides damping control

  11. Conventional Suspension Bush Conventional bush used in a vertical orientation in a front control arm.

  12. Triple bonded pivot bush Z X Y Triple bonded bush used in a vertical orientation in a front control arm. • Static Stiffness (N/mm) • X – 13 000 • Y – 20 100 • Z – 1150

  13. Patented Subframe Bush Avon’s patented plastic outer clip design provides significant weight and cost savings whilst providing excellent push out load capability. Load N Displacement mm

  14. Avon ‘Button Bush’ Patent Pending An enhancement over Aluminium Performance and Rates at Plastic Costs. • Integral novel design feature provides: • Improved Durability • Improved Tune-ability • Enhanced Stiffness levels • (Compared to conventional plastic outers) • Lower Cost • Reduced Weight • (Compared to aluminium) Static Stiffness X = 550N/mm Y = 1600N/mm Z = 850N/mm

  15. Control Arm Suspension Bush Front lower control bush for horizontal application.

  16. Rear Steer Suspension Bush Double bonded bush using nylon outer. Used on torsion beam rear suspension to allow mounting in vehicle at inclined angles. Mount and installation characteristics provide rear steer effect.
