  1. 2009 AFRICAN HERITAGE MONTH YOUTH QUIZ Practice Quiz

  2. RULES • Each team: 4 players + 1 back-up/alternate player. • Players must buzz in and wait to be called upon by the Host. If the first team to buzz cannot answer the question, the opposing team will be given the opportunity to answer the question. • Questions are in two categories: OPEN and TEAM. Openquestions must be answered by the team member who rings in first. Team questions can be discussed by all the team members, but only one team member can provide the answer.

  3. RULES (continued) • If a player buzzes in before the question is completely read, the host will stop and the player must provide an answer. If a player is unable to provide an answer, then the question is read in its entirety for the opposite team. • If an audience member reveals the answer of a question before the players answer the question, the question is VO I D. • In case of a disputed answer, the judge will determine the correct answer. The judge's decision will be final. • If no team is able to answer the question, audience members will be given an opportunity to answer the question.

  4. DURING THE QUIZ ... • Remember: This is a team event, but only one person can answer each question. • Don't interrupt the Host. Wait until they finish the question before you start to answer. • Remember: Each new question is a fresh start for you and for your team. Let the old one go. Don't get flustered. If your team is down by a large number of points, it is possible to make up the difference in a few minutes, so don’t get discouraged.

  5. REMEMBER, DURING THE QUIZ ... • If an audience member shouts out an answer, no points will be awarded to either team. • Each team will have five players; however, only four can participate at a time. A substitution can be made at the request of the coach/teacher. • Have fun and practice positive sportsmanship!
