  2. Bone cancer: What it is and what treatments are available? Bone cancer is one of the rarest type of cancer that occurs in the cells of the bones. The most common type of bone cancer is osteosarcoma, which usually develops in the long bones of the arms and legs. Although bone cancer can occur at any age, it is most commonly diagnosed in children and young adults. Several treatment options for bone cancer are available, including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.  What causes bone cancer?  There are many different causes of bone cancer, but the most common is a mutation in the cells that make up the bone. This can be caused by various factors, including exposure to radiation or certain chemicals, or hereditary. There are also certain medical conditions that can increase your risk of developing bone cancer, such as Paget's disease. 

  3. What are the symptoms of bone cancer?  • The most common symptom of bone cancer is pain. The pain usually begins gradually and gets worse over time. Other symptoms may include:   • Fatigue  • Weight loss  • Fever  • Anaemia  • Bone fractures  • How is bone cancer diagnosed?  • There are a few ways that Oncologists can diagnose bone cancer. A biopsy is the most common way. In a biopsy, the doctor removes a small piece of bone to look at under a microscope. Other tests, such as an x-ray, MRI, or PET scan, may also be used to diagnose bone cancer. • What are the treatments for bone cancer?  • There are a few different treatment options available for bone cancer, depending on the stage and severity of cancer. Bone Cancer treatment options include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.  • Surgery is often the first line of treatment for bone cancer and may be combined with radiation therapy or chemotherapy.   • Radiation therapy uses high-energy beams to kill cancer cells,   • While chemotherapy uses drugs to kill cancer cells.
