  1. WHAT IS OINTMENT MANUFACTUIRNG PLANT AND HOW OINTMENT IS MANUFACTURED?

  2. The ointment manufacturing plant is the machinery used for the manufacturing of various pharmaceutical products such as gel, shampoo, toothpaste, cream and lotion. This plant works by mixing the ointment and water in a homogenous quantity before passing it through the production process. Ointments such as cream and lotion are manufactured in such as way so that we humans can apply it to our skin and other outer body parts. Currently, ointment is also used in medication industry for medicinal and non-medicinal purposes. Ointments in the form of protectants, emollients, antipruritic and antiseptics are applied to the skin. Apart from the this, ointments also come in different forms that are used and applied in rectum, nose and eyes. These ointments are prepared using two types of processes namely automatic process and semi-automatic process. In automatic process, the water-soluble substances are mixed with demineralized water. Similarly, the wax and the oil are mixed in a different vessel called as wax phase vessel. After the mixing process, the containers are heated thoroughly under high temperature using motor driven agitators. The wax and heated water are filtered out and moved to another container by using pipes and vacuum transfer system. Homogenizers and emulsifiers are used to make the product as uniform as possible. Later when the product is ready, a pump is used to transfer the product to the storage tank. The storage tank is then taken to the filling machine.

  3. In semi-automatic process of ointment manufacturing plant, the water is added in a container and then wax is added in the same container. The wax and water are heated together. After the heating process, the drug composition is also added to the same container such that the heating and stirring is continued. Later, this product is transferred to the storage vessel where proper homogenization of the product takes place. This storage vessel also has heating system with wheels in it. Finally, the product is taken to the filling machine.
