KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY:- Knee replacement surgery can be defined as the technique to rebuild eroded knee joints. Affected knee joints are no longer able to bear the load and hence fail to carry out functions like walking and running. The major cause of such failure is osteoarthritis. It is a painful condition that pertains to the inflammation of bone joints and cartilages
The surgery is usually carried out under the effect of anaesthesia and the time taken is between 1hrs- 3 hrs. Post surgery, the patient is kept under observation for 3-4 days and during that time treated further with physiotherapy exercises for post-surgery care in physiotherapy clinic in delhi. The knee replacement can be done using metal alone or with a combination of metal and plastic.
The only major problem post knee replacement is the weakness of muscle & stiffness, which requires extensive physiotherapy to be eliminated.
SYMPTOMS OF KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS:- The main symptom of osteoarthritis is knee pain, morning stiffness less than 30 min, age older than 50 and tenderness in the bony mass. It restricts movements involved in the day to day activities such as bending of knees, walking, bending down, turning sides while sleeping etc. It is most common in the elderly.
