  1. Everything You Need to Know About Ecommerce Product Marketing When it comes to online retail, product marketing is key. Without an effective product marketing strategy in place, your odds of success are slim. So, what exactly goes into ecommerce product marketing? In this post, we'll explore everything from creating a product launch plan to crafting effective ads and measuring results. Read on for all the details!en roller coaster which quickly becomes thrilling as you crest the top and then free falls down the other side only approaching a stop when it hits the bottom. That's how I feel when I'm working on my ecommerce business; up one minute and falling the next but it's always exciting. And today I want to share with you some of what I have learned about ecommerce product marketing so that you can apply this knowledge to your business. Product Marketing is Key to an Ecommerce Business' Success Product marketing is the process of identifying, anticipating and satisfying customer needs profitably. And if you are thinking "that sounds like marketing" well, you are not far off track because it's the same thing! Product marketing always has a commercial element that looks at how to generate commercial advantage through differentiation or cost leadership while finding creative ways to reach the target market. So what does this mean? Well, in short it means that product marketers look for differentiators for their products which will make them stand out from competitors trying to get noticed by selling their goods at a better price than other competitors. The goal here is customer acquisition so rather than looking at sales growth, it's about how many customers you can acquire at a profit. Product marketing is always closely tied to product management in ecommerce because the two work together in tandem looking after the commercial elements of your product. Here are some areas that any good ecommerce store owner will need to pay attention to if they want their sales to grow: 1) Minimum Viable Product (MVP) Know it, Love it The minimum viable product is one of the most important aspects of an effective ecommerce business with online stores having to stay on top with trends and changes in consumer behaviour which means constantly evolving products. These days most people aren't interested in buying a whole solution when all they probably want is part of it hence the rise of what is known as the minimum viable product (MVP). The MVP is essentially that, the product with only enough features to satisfy early adopters and solve some basic problem. A great example of this would be Dropbox which was first released as a simple file-sharing solution allowing users to access their documents no matter where they were or on what device.

  2. Even though it's evolved into something else entirely now, it still solves the same core problem. It's no wonder then that enterprise software companies like Aha! , Slack and Docker all started out as MVPs with just enough features to get early adopters interested in their idea even if these people weren't always intended as the target market for the company right from the start. If you're new to ecommerce don't worry if you don't understand what a MVP is or how you can use it to your advantage because there are lots of resources available on the internet that will help you get up to speed with this new ecommerce marketing trend. 2) Product Launch (Plan, Plan, then more planning!) When somebody first has an idea for an online store or decides they want to sell some product through another channel like eBay , they'll tend rush straight in and start selling without taking enough time to map out their plan. And this is where most businesses fail by not putting together a cohesive product launch plan which includes all aspects of the process from building awareness before launching right through to after sales service ensuring customers aren't disappointed by poor experiences after purchase. It's only by creating a plan from start to finish for your ecommerce business that you can put together a consistent strategy. In fact, it's not unheard of for product marketers to map out their entire launch calendar as part of the planning process before even thinking about going live with a new product. Every month has been mapped out and planned weeks in advance if not months. It might sound strange but this is where many successful companies fail because they don't think about their long-term vision when planning a launch and then find themselves stuck having lost momentum after just one or two launches have failed to meet expectations. This is why it's so important to have an amazing product which already has some early interest from customers otherwise you risk wasting precious time trying to build interest in a product which nobody wants to buy.
