  4. Program Goal: To build capacity in schools for serving students with disabilities in integrated settings. The purpose of these funds is to provide for capacity building projects directly related to staff initial and follow-up professional development and support for schools. Professional Development, Materials and Technical Assistance • Are designed to: • Assist campuses in analysis of data indicators for students receiving special education services and facilitating the practice of data-informed decision making • Support the implementation of evidenced based instructional practices for students receiving special education services. • Enable students receiving special education services to access and make progress in the general education curriculum Provided by Region 4 ESC

Technical Assistance • BISI will provide technical assistance support for each year one and year two campus based upon consultant availability and topic.  • Technical Assistance sessions are informal, small group question and answer sessions designed around a topic related to supporting student receiving special education services.   34. When Designing Goals… Dead person’s Stranger “So what” Measurable? Adding a percentage, technical language and/or adding an action verb does not ensure a goal is measurable. Observable? Can you see it and/or count it? Does it have a timeframe, condition, behavior and criteria? Three Tests Other Tips Provided by Region 4 ESC

  35. Four Parts To A BISI Goal (TCBC) • Timeframe - the amount of time in the goal period • Condition - specifies manner in which progress toward the goal occurs. Describes the resources that must be present to reach the goal, and should relate to the behavior being measured Provided by Region 4 ESC

  36. Four Parts to BISI Goal (TCBC) • Behavior - clearly identifies the performance that is being monitored. An action that can be directly observed and measured • Criterion - identifies how much, how often, or to what standard the behavior must occur in order to demonstrate that the goal has been achieved and/or progress had been made Provided by Region 4 ESC

Sample BISI Goal By May 30, 2012 given small group reading intervention instruction using the Accelerated Curriculum for Struggling Readers (Region 4) students receiving special education services will gain a minimum of one year’s growth in fluency according to curriculum fluency measures. Sample BISI Goal By June 30, 2012 after attending the BISI Core Training sessions, all campus instructional staff will receive 1 hour mini professional sessions during PLC time covering the main concepts from each core training opportunity as evidenced by teacher sign-in sheets.
