colours are adjectives what is an adjective ? • an adjective: • is used to describe something • comes after what is described
un cahier bleu une gomme bleue une calculatrice verte un livre vert un portable rouge une table rouge If what is described is masculin, the colour will be masculin. If what is described is feminin, then the colour will become feminin as well.
Making colours feminin • Simply add an –e at the end, except if it already has one ! bleu e rose vert e noir e jaune rouge gris e

making colours plural • when the thing described is plural, the colour becomes plural as well • marron and orange never change !
Colours are adjectives 1. They come after the word they describe • 2. Watch the word the colour describes to know how to write it : • masculin / feminin • singular / plural 3. marron and orangenever change
