  1. SALIENT FEATURES AND USES OF CONCRETE MOISTURE METER Building construction jobs require handling and using a lot many different materials. Out of these materials, wood and concrete are the ones most widely employed because of their strength and properties. As a matter of fact, the strength of both these materials depends greatly on the moisture content present in them at the time of installation – which is why tests are used to determine whether this moisture content could be harmful. There are various methods using which one can determine moisture content in a material on site. One of these methods is using moisture meters for the purpose. In this article, you will learn about salient features and uses of concrete moisture meters. Basic information on moisture meters Moisture meters do precisely what they are named for – they measure moisture levels inside a solid material, like concrete or wood. Early on in the construction industry, moisture meters were used expressly for wood. When concrete was introduced, the workers attempted to use the same moisture meters for concrete as well, and it worked out fairly. Today, these instruments are available exclusively for different materials or collectively for all materials. There are two types of moisture meters available in the market today – destructive and non- destructive. Destructive moisture meters entail penetration of two pins into the cast form to measure the level of moisture in the slab. These pins then pass electricity between them. Since water conducts electricity, lesser resistance encountered by electricity translates directly into higher moisture contents. Non-destructive moisture meters employ radio waves to measure moisture inside the slab, instead of having to poke or penetrate a cast element. How non-destructive moisture meters work Non-destructive moisture meters work by using electromagnetic waves to measure indirectly the moisture content in concrete forms. These are portable devices that are handheld. Upon keeping this instrument in contact with the concrete slab and pushing a button, electromagnetic waves are released which travel through the concrete slab. Presence of moisture modifies the properties of these waves; upon returning to the device, the device measures the changes that occurred in the waves, and returns the corresponding values of moisture. From the above discussions, it is evident that non-destructive moisture meters are the better choice since there is no damage involved. Visit:-https://www.pcte.com.au/

  2. About the Company: PCTE supplies a range of equipment from around the world to offer you a one stop shop with all of the latest equipment. Concrete Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) comprises testing a property of concrete, largely without damaging the concrete to assess some parameter that either directly or indirectly provides a required characteristic of the concrete or its embedment.
