  3. introduction • The availability and quality of transit data has greatly improved in recent years. • Transit agencies maintain detailed transit data, but it is typically not integrated into MPO models or the other way… • GTFS introduced a common data exchange platform for transit data... • No direct integration with the street network • No integrated analysis tools are available All of this data requires integration to be useful for planning...

  4. Map matching • Tool for integration of transit line geometries with any given street network.. • Works by matching a given sequence of coordinates to a target link/polyline geometry within a given snap radius Target street network Source transit line geometry

  5. Map matching • Most likely link sequence is based on weighted score of length and snap distance with two calculation variants… • Incremental matching method – for dense point sequences • Global matching method – for sparse point matching
