  2. Kedarnath temple is a part of Chardhams and PanchKedar in Uttarakhand and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India. Kedarnath is situated at an altitude of 3586 mts, in the lap of the majestic mountain peaks and near the head of river Mandakini situated in Rudraprayag district of Garhwal region in Uttarakhand. Kedarnath temple this year was open on May 6, 2022 at 8.50 am. It will remain open till October 26, 2022 which is the day of BhaiDooj. There are many places to see in and near Kedarnath namely Chorabari Tal (Gandhi Sarovar), Vasukital, Gaurikund, Triyuginarayan, Ukhimath, PanchKedar, Madmaheshwar, Tungnath, Chopta, Deoria Tal and Rudranath etc. It is best to visit Kedarnath is between May to October as there is heavy snowfall in the winter months. The devotees can experience a great peace of mind and undertaking a spiritual trip here always rekindles human beings faith in the almighty. Festivals like VinayakaChaturthi and Deepawali are celebrated here during September and October. ShravaniAnnakootMela is celebrated on the day before RakshaBandhan during August. Special Samadhi Pooja is held on the closing day of Kedarnath temple. Kedarnathyatra can be done either by air, train or road. Visitors can board regular buses from Rishikesh and Kotdwar to Kedarnath.

Vasuki Tal located at 3,135 meters; the crystal clear blue-water lake of Vasuki is about 8 km from Kedarnath. Chobari Tal fed by Chorabari glacier, can be reached after undertaking a trek of less than 4 km from the Kedarnath town. At Kedarnath, there are several Kunds that are known for their religious significant - Shivkund, Retkund, Hanskund, UdakKund, RudhirKund are the most important. A little away from Kedarnath is a temple dedicated to BhaironathJi who is ceremoniously worshipped at the opening & closing of Kedarnath. The first hall inside Kedarnath temple contains statues of the five Pandava brothers, Lord Krishna, Nandi, the vehicle of Shiva and Virabhadra, one of the guards of Shiva. Statue of Draupadi and other deities are also installed in the main hall.
