  2. What is warehousing? 02 Warehouse: a storage facility (and building) where goods are staged and shelved to await their delivery by distributors and wholesalers or other retailers. By analogy, warehousing is also known as a manufacturing facility, because the inventory is stored under conditions appropriate to manufacturing. In the supply chain management industry, warehouse refers to a place where goods are stored but remain within one or more locations. Generally, the definition encompasses manufacturing as well as distribution, storage, holding and warehouse management. It is primarily used to describe distribution warehouses. The warehouse worker or employee is a delivery person, who picks or places items at a warehouse and who then puts the items onto a delivery truck. The warehouse, in turn, is a company's place where the manufacturer or distributor can store the stock until it is ready to be delivered to its customers. Warehouse employees typically work in warehouses and distribution centers, each of which is a component of a supply chain.

A warehouse is a multi-story facility having a frontage or lobby and at least two (but usually three, four, or five floors) connected by a series of internal lifts or stairs. The front of the storage facility is often located at a street or street junction, where trucks for delivery of packaged goods exit and goods to be stored, called goods to be warehoused, are unloaded from them and placed on pallets for transfer into the building via a lift. Goods in the "warehouse" are not available for immediate consumption, so they will need to be stored, or in other.
