  2. Story 1 Two of my favourite things in the world (apart from Maths) are KitKat Chunkys and Haribos … Choose some letters to represent KitKat Chunky’s and Haribos…

  3. When I was in the shop the other day, I bought three packets of Haribo, and two KitKat Chunkys… But that wasn’t enough, so I bought one more of each…

  4. But even that wasn’t enough, so I bought three more packets of Haribo, and two more KitKat Chunkys… But just before I could eat any of them, my greedy Mum stole six packets of Haribo, and three KitKat Chunkys off me…

  5. The shopkeeper felt sorry so me, and so he made sure I left the shop with TWICE as many of each sweet… How many sweets did I leave the shop with…

  6. Story 2 Whilst I was watching England play Spain last night, I fancied a little snack, so I poured my self some peanuts in a bowl… Choose a letter to represent the number of peanuts in the bowl…

  7. During the first half I ate 6 peanuts… One peanut went down the ‘wrong way’, and I ended up coughing it back up into the bowl…

  8. Whilst I was making a cup of tea, my greedy flatmate stole 5 peanuts… Because I caught her ‘red-handed’, she agreed to put some Malteasers in the bowl. Choose a letter to represent the number of Malteasers…

  9. I told her that that wasn’t enough to make up for the loss of my peanuts, so she gave me DOUBLE the number of Malteasers… How many peanuts and Malteasers did I end up with in my bowl…

  10. Story 3 Last Friday, after a stressful week at The Minster School, I needed a drink of beer, so I went to the pub Choose a letter to represent the price of a pint of beer…

  11. Whenever I ordered a pint of beer the barman told me that because of a shortage, the price of beer had doubled… I wasn’t happy, but I was thirsty, so I ordered 3 pints…

  12. I was also quite hungry, so I decided to buy some crisps… Choose a letter to represent the price of crisps…

  13. It really wasn’t my night, because the barman also told me that the price of crisps had TRIPLED… I was feeling very hungry, so I still bought 4 packets…

  14. Just before I left the pub I had one more packet of crisps, and one more beer … How much money did I spent in total…
