  1. Making a Latex Mattress

  2. Sap is collected from rubber trees and is a natural and renewable resource.

  3. There are two different manufacturing processes used to create mattresses.

  4. Dunlop In this method, the liquid latex is mixed to create a foam.

  5. The foam is put into a shaped mould or conveyor and passed into a special oven. The mixture solidifies before being passed on to a washing station where residual liquid latex is removed.

  6. The latex foam is dried and ready for use.

  7. Talalay This manufacturing process produces latex with a different texture to that of the Dunlop method.

  8. The liquid is transferred into a shaped mould and sealed closed.

  9. A vacuum is used to evenly disperse the latex throughout the mould

  10. It is flash frozen and immediately flash heated to solidify

  11. Once cooled, the latex blocks are removed from the mould and ready for use.
