  1. DOG WALKING, VIRTUAL TOURS & DRONE ROMANCE DURING LOCKDOWN!

  2. Lockdown has been (and continues to be) an essential but frustrating restriction placed upon us all, and while some industries, governments and health officials have been using drones in a variety of unique and useful ways during the pandemic, recreational drone pilots have been forced to find new and highly creative ways of getting some flying time in. Here are 3 of the most innovative uses of recreational drones during lockdown: • Walkies without setting foot outside: While this might not be recommended – and doubtless drew criticism from many for a whole host of reasons – one Cypriot apartment resident decided that taking his dog for a walk himself, was just too risky,

  3. so he assigned the task to his drone instead! Attaching the leash to the drone, he deposited his dog outside the entrance to his building, then raced back up to his apartment to pilot the drone from his balcony! • Apocalyptic tours of cities during lockdown: One popular enthusiast site, Drone DJ, has collated a selection of videos featuring footage of spookily deserted cities during the lockdown period. Some cities featured include New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Milan and Paris. These normally bustling metropolis’s have been reduced to virtual ghost towns, and watching the videos gives an eery impression of what life might look like in the aftermath of an apocalypse.

  4. Flying on the wings of love! With most US citizens forced to remain inside their homes for an extended period, those who are single and looking for love have not been able to go searching for it in the usual places. However, that didn’t deter one New Yorker from seizing an opportunistic moment to test out his romancing skills, when he spotted a woman dancing on her rooftop. Leaning out of his window and waving frantically to get her attention, he shouted over to her and asked her to wait while he sent something to her. He scribbled his number on a piece of paper, taped it to his drone and sent it whizzing across to her!

  5. While we don’t know whether love bloomed for this pair during lockdown, we must surely salute his efforts to find a soulmate during these difficult times. While so much is uncertain during this health crisis, one thing is guaranteed, and that is that drones are here to stay, and whatever the future may hold, drones will almost certainly be a part of it.
