Register on the GeM Portal • Begin by visiting the GeM portal. Click on the registration option to create your seller account. Fill in the required details, including your business information, contact details, and any necessary documents to complete the registration process.
Log into Your GeM Seller ID • Once your account is successfully created, log in to the GeM portal using your seller ID and password. This ID will be essential for accessing your account and managing your bids.
Check for Caution Money • After logging in, a pop-up will appear indicating that caution money has not yet been submitted. Caution money is a security deposit required to participate in government procurement processes, ensuring that sellers are serious about their bids.
Choose Bank Name • Next, select your bank from the provided list. This is the bank where you will be processing your caution money payment. Ensure that you have an account with the selected bank.
Generate Challan • Once you’ve selected your bank, generate a challan for the caution money. The challan will contain essential payment details, including the amount you need to deposit and the payment instructions.
Enter Caution Money Amount (as per turnover) • You will need to enter the required caution money amount based on your business turnover. The amounts are categorized as follows: • Less than ₹1 crore: ₹5,000 • Between ₹1 crore to ₹10 crores: ₹10,000 • Above ₹10 crores: ₹25,000 Make sure to enter the correct amount according to your business's turnover to avoid any issues. Download the Challan and Send Challan to the Customer • After entering the caution money amount, download the challan. This document will need to be shared with the relevant customer for payment processing. Ensure that the customer receives all necessary details for a smooth transaction.
Payment by Customer • The customer will make the payment according to the details provided in the challan. It's crucial to communicate clearly with the customer regarding the payment process to avoid delays.
Wait for Payment Approval • Once the customer has made the payment, you will need to wait for payment confirmation. This process usually takes about 24 to 48 hours. During this time, keep an eye on your account for any updates regarding the payment status.
