  1. Think like European – Act locally in Madeira European Solidarity Corps project for Teatro Metaphora - Associação de Amigos das Artes Tetyana Halyelo

  2. During my ESC project, I was based in the picturesque town of Câmara de Lobos, kissed by the ocean waves and nestled at the foot of massive cliffs. I lived in the same building where my hosting organization, Teatro Metaphora, was located. I spent two months here (starting from 19.01.2025) and this place became like a second home to me.

  3. As my project went on, I was engaged in various activities, that helped me gain new skills like event planning ofart exhibitions, school workshops, and youth exchanges, where I actively contributed to designing the activities, facilitation, and project assistance. I’ve discovered many valuable topics such as European Youth Goals, greenwashing, upcycling, paper recycling and so on. I managed social media and prepared project documentations as well.

  4. "Talking Objects" Exhibition Firstly, I helped with preparing and actually participated in the art exhibition, for which I needed tocreatean art piece, writea story in Portuguese (a completely new language to me, it was an efficient practice!), and record it with the help of my colleagues.

  5. Upcycling Workshop I helped assist with a session at a local school, where I inspired students to give old shoes a second life, protect our environment and nature from additional pollution, and pursue their creativity.

  6. Paper Recycling Project I was engaged in the recycling initiative, through which I learned the whole process of creating a new paper from waste paper while bonding with fellow volunteers, who helped me cutting the paper.

  7. Youth Exchange „Goals in Motion” (4-9.03.2025) Teatro Metaphora hosted three groups of young people from Albania, Italy and Kosovo to present the topic of European Youth Goals. My task was to prepare activities like presentation, team-buildings, ice-breakers, Kahoot quiz, city game, and facilitate them all during the exchange. This is my coordinator Lidia,I was her „right hand” during my project 

  8. Youth Exchange „Goals in Motion” (4-9.03.2025) It was an exciting opportunity to meet new friends from different countries!

  9. Youth Exchange „Goals in Motion” (4-9.03.2025) During the exchange, I learned about other cultures thanks to intercultural nights, where we had a chance to try some local products!

  10. Portuguese classes Enrolling to Portuguese A1 course on OLS platform allowed me to learn basic words and phrases that helped me in my everyday life here.

  11. Phoenix Youth ProjectI was also responsible for creating social media posts and pictures for one of the organization’s initiatives, aiming to help young artists.

  12. In my free time… … I explored as much as I could! However, it wasn’t easy to navigate around the island, as I don’t drive, and the public buses system is so confusing. There are several bus companies operating in different parts of Madeira, and each of them has their own bus stops, bus lines and so on. So it was really puzzling to find a good connection.

  13. Places I’ve visited Levada da Serra, a 20-milion year old rainforest and a remote village of Santo da Serra

  14. Places I’ve visited Santana, a town with triangle rustic huts, hidden waterfalls, and breathtaking cliffs

  15. Ponta de São Lourenço

  16. Thank you for your attention! As for the conclusion, I’d like to point that if you're looking for a well-organized, supportive, and impactful volunteering opportunity, this one I can definitely recommend to those seeking for an artistic place, where they can pursue creativity, gain new skills and meet amazing people!
