  2. Mentally retarded people are classified by the degree of their disability as mildly, moderately, severely, or profoundly retarded. In the past, many people with mental retardation were hidden away at home or placed in institutions that offered no educational opportunities. Some were even treated as criminals. Today, however, many of them live and work within their communities as productive citizens.

  7. What makes a gift special? Everyone loves presents, right? Receiving a special gift is always a treat, but sometimes giving a gift can be even more rewarding. In the story “A Crush,” simple but generous gifts bring about positive changes for both the recipients and the givers.

  9. The class will be divided into five groups. Each group will read the story simultaneously. The first reader will read the first paragraph within his or her group only, while others will read silently. After the first reader read the paragraph, it will be rolled to the next reader until each member will take turn in reading until the last paragraph.
