  1. Akhilesh Srivastava Improved Highway Operations with the Integration of Latest Technologies Highway infrastructure is one of the major contributors to the economic growth of India. In India, however, highway infrastructure has been facing several hurdles in terms of implementation, ideas, and funding. But the tides have already begun turning ever since the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) initiated a cluster project for the modernization of the highways sector. The sector is now turning a new leaf with the integration of latest technologies. And at the helm of affairs is Akhilesh Srivastava, CGM of the IT & Highway Operations division of the NHAI. CGM Srivastava has been a major contributor to the development of India’s national highways. He is currently (under the aegis of the Indian Space Research Organization ISRO) implementing the use of drones and geospatial technology in the Sector to ensure real-time monitoring of ongoing highway projects. The NHAI is encouraging engineering graduates to enrol for training in geospatial technology as the ongoing initiative widens the demand for engineers in remote sensing, geotechnical, and allied fields. The Road Assets Management System (RAMS) along with the Advanced Traffic Incident Management System (ATMS) are the two projects that he is currently working on. These projects are in their initial phases and are gradually gaining momentum, and are already contributing to the modernization drive. Apart from this, Mr Srivastava has already launched the FASTag-powered Electronic Toll Collection system across most of the toll plazas on the country’s national highways. The NHAI CGM is set to install and implement at least one dedicated ETC lane at each of the toll plazas. The project has been reducing traffic congestion and improving the overall taxing system at the toll complexes. It also will make the overall process a lot more transparent and streamlined. To take the ambitious modernization cluster project to a global level and represent India’s infrastructure aspirations, NHAI CGM Akhilesh Srivastava has been delegated by the Central government to the upcoming 4th Annual Roads & Highways forum in Singapore, organized jointly by the International Road Federation (Geneva) and Marcus Evans Group. The congress is going to be held from April 9th – April 11th, 2018 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. Srivastava is going deliver presentations along with other distinguished panellists from around the world. He also is going to discuss in a panel on the impact of China’s One Belt One Road (OBOR) project in Asia, along with two other delegates. Felicitating these achievements among others, the Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) conferred the CIDC Vishwakarma Award for lifetime achievement as a public officer on Mr Akhilesh Srivastava, at the 10th edition of the awards ceremony. The event was conducted on March 07, 2018, at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Several other officers were recognized for their contributions and achievements in the construction industry. Mr Srivastava was awarded for his execution of the e-MB, e- Tender, Wayside Amenities, Electronic Toll Collection and other projects. #AkhileshSrivastava #RAMS #SmartHighways #GeospatialWorldForum
