Triphala is an Ayurvedic, polyherbal preparation. It comprises three different fruits. All these fruits are native to India. These fruits are bibhitaki, Amalaki, and haritaki. The three fruits impact all the three doshas of the human body in a positive way. As mentioned earlier there are three doshas in Ayurveda u2013 Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. According to a study in 2010 in the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, that was conducted on a 9-day-old rat pups, half of the rats were given triphala before giving them injections that can cause cataracts. The other half were not given any Triphala. Only 20 per cent of the mice had cataracts that were given triphala, however all 100 per cent untreated had cataracts that were given triphala.
