  1. Kassem Ajami Explain What Are Alloying Agents and Its Use In Steel Industry Kassem Ajami Says you have ever thought about what is the most commonly used metal in the world is, you might be surprised or sometimes unsurprised for that matter to find out we are talking about steel. Steel is considered as the strongest and widely used metal. Many objects with which you and we interact with on a regular basis are made of steel. Yet, with its popularity and applicability, many people are still relatively unaware of steel’s various properties, and uses. If that sounds true for you, you'll likely find some interesting information in this blog post by Mohamad Kassem Ajami. Steel at first made by mining iron ore from the ground, and then after smelting the ore in a furnace to remove impurities, and adding carbonas well. If you will see around then you will find that steel-making process involves recycling existing steel. Whether it is mined from the Earth or recycled, steel is a combination of iron and carbon. When you will first try to understand steel, let us teel you it is very easy to end up overwhelmed. And which is partly because steel is made of four distinct groups. By understanding a bit about these categories, you’ll find the genuine information about steel a bit more which for sure will be more digestible for you. The four groups are stainless, carbon, tool, and alloy, and they are grouped and to make your clear, we would like to tell you that this is based on chemical composition. Carbon steel: - Carbon steels generally look dulls but, in reality, it is considered one of the strongest metals around. Let us tell you, that carbon steel is also known as vulnerable to corrosion. In carbon, there are only three subtypes on which we are going to discuss below. Low carbon steel, which contains about only 30 per cent of pure carbon in carbon steel, in medium carbon steel there is 60 per cent of carbon in it and last but not least in high carbon steel, there is only 1.5 per cent of carbon. They are generally strong that’s why carbon steel used to manufacture knives, strong wires, automotive parts and carbon steel are also used in construction sites. Do you know that carbon steel is used on a large scale globally? In fact, carbon steel is used to make about 90 per cent of steel products. Alloy steel: - In this, we are going to talk about alloy steel, it is basically made up of different types of metal, basically alloy metal is a mixture of various metals like nickel, copper and aluminum. This is one of the cheapest steels discovered and at the same time more resistance to corrosion. That’s why alloy steel is mostly used in the manufacturing of car parts or even all vehicle parts, various types of pipelines, mechanical projects and more. The reason why it's used in making car parts and all

  2. is, alloy steel has great strength and toughness and this toughness and strength totally depends on the number of elements which it contains. Tool steel: - tool steel is very famous as compared to other steel metal and eventually tool steel has too much popularity because of its hardness and one of the biggest of its popularity is that tool steel is heat or scrap resistance. By which it is used by many large-scale industries. Its name has been derived from the interesting fact that it is only used for making such metal tools as hammers. They are made up of such an amazing thing, cobalt, molybdenum or tungsten and to be honest, this is the only reason why tool steels have advanced durability or heat resistance also. That’s why tool steel is capable of bearing high temperature or lifting heavy loads. Stainless steel: - this one is the last metal, which is used in manufacturing technology but remembers that this is not the least. Stainless steel is probably the well-known steel in the markets of metals. The reason is that stainless steel is shiny metal and usually contains 15 to 20 per cent of chromium, which is one of the most important alloying elements. This allows the stainless steel to be resistant to corrosion and also allows it to get moulded into various shapes. So, because of its flexibility, durability and shiny effect, it is used in the manufacturing of silverware, dishes or other home applications, industrial building and surgical equipment.
