  1. Ayurvedic PanchakarmaTreatment The way our mind needs peace, our body needs peace too. This peace when it is implied in the body can be termed as ‘purification’. Hence, purification of the mind, body and soul is highly required in order to attain peace. Ayurveda has benefited us with its myriad knowledge and techniques of living with the help of which we feel connected with nature all the time. And it is rather necessary to hold on to the Ayurvedic principles of living, to retain the beauty of nature as the present world is deteriorating to a considerable extent. Ayurveda is termed to be a preventive science and is also considered to be an alternate system of medicine. It is one of the best ways to transform a life to something better and useful which acts in accordance with nature. It can help motivate the inner self and help us be positive about the changes and transformations that are necessary for a healthy living.

  2. All About Panchakarma Therapy: Ayurveda is all about delivering the correct therapies for all the disorders in the most natural way possible. Panchakarma Treatment in Ayurveda is a complete detoxification therapy that helps one to cleanse the body, internally. This therapy is all about rejuvenation and detoxification that enables to achieve longevity and endurance. It teaches everyone to act according to their body type, be it in the form of diet, exercises or therapies. Now, Ayurveda explains our physical body to be a composition of the five major components found in this universe. They are earth, fire, water, air and ether. And these five components affects our existence. We are composed of all these components, but of course in different quantities. Let us explain how. According to Ayurveda, there are three forces that govern our body, namely, Vatadosha, Pitta dosha and Kaphadosha. Vat dosha comprises of ether and air; Pitta dosha of fire and water and Kaphadosha of water and earth. The constitution or the somatic temperament of each and every individual is determined by the relative proportions of these doshas, which collectively is known as Tridosha.

  3. Our internal structure of the body constantly reacts to the external environment in which we live in. If our lifestyle is managed in a proper way, our body is well and sound to be functioned. So we can conclude by saying that our external surroundings is directly proportional to the internal constitution of our body. The disorders that take place within our body is basically due to a bad lifestyle that we live in. The sedentary lifestyle that we are living in now has left us with nothing but diseases and aloofness from nature. So in order to get rid of the toxins (ama) that gets built up with time within our body, a complete pure and authentic Ayurvedic treatmentor therapy is necessary. And Panchakarma therapy is the answer for it. As mentioned before, Panchakarma therapy is a detoxifying therapy that helps cleanse the clogged channels in the body for proper circulation of blood. So once our body is given an Ayurvedic cleansing, our prana (vital life energy), ojas (immunity) and tejas (cellular metabolic energy) gets revitalized and thus ensures longevity. Before starting the actual therapy, the body is prepared to attain the benefits of the treatment through two procedures- Snehan and Svedana. Snehan is the oil massage whereas Svedana is the sweating of the body. After these procedures are followed for a week or so, a particular Panchakarma method is then prescribed according to the prakruti and vikruti of the body.

  4. Five Stages of Cleansing An Ayurvedic Panchkarma Treatment therapy comprises of five different methods of cleansing. These are: Vamana: therapeutic vomiting or emesis Virechan: purgation Basti: enema Nasya: elimination of toxins through the nose Rakta Moksha: detoxification and purification of the blood Let us understand these processes in detail: 1.Vamana or Emesis Therapy: Vamana is a Kapha pacifying treatment that is often termed as therapeutic vomiting or emesis. This step is followed when our body needs the elimination of excess mucus. In times of congestion, when we suffer from bronchitis, cold, cough or asthma, the only treatment that might help at that moment is therapeutic vomiting or emesis therapy. This helps to get rid of the excess mucus from the body thus providing relief in the lungs. After this therapy is administered, proper rest and fasting is recommended. This therapy enables the person to attain a clear voice, a clear throat, clear chest with no signs of congestion. Vamana is a therapy to pacify the aggravated Kaphadosha and to cure diseases of skin, respiratory disorder, auto-immune disorders etc.

  5. 2.Virechan or Purgation: Ayurvedic purgation method is a Pitta pacifying treatment that helps to get rid of the excess pitta in the body. When excess bile is secreted and accumulated in the gall bladder, liver and small intestine then our body tends to react in an improper way resulting in skin inflammation, rashes, acne, nausea, jaundice and chronic attacks of fever. So in that case, Vamana therapy is administered which is highly beneficial to get rid of the aggravated pitta. This purgation or therapeutic laxative ensures the relaxation of the bile imbalance in the body. It is beneficial to cure skin disorders, diseases of bile and blood, gastro intestinal disorders, auto-immune and psycho-somatic disorders. 3.Basti or Enema therapy: The administration of Basti therapy helps to pacify the Vatadosha in the body. This therapy is administered through a rubber equipment or catheter. This instrument is lubricated with the help of oil or ghee and then inserted through the anus slowly so that the medicine passes inside the body without any disturbance. Vata is basically located in the large intestine, therefore any medication given rectally goes into the deeper tissues, like bones and pacifies the Vatadosha. Basti treatment is specifically used for neuro-muscular diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, for different types of arthritis, infertility, obesity, gynaecological disorders, Gout and constipation.

  6. 4.Nasya or Nasal Therapy: The nose is considered to be the gateway for the brain. So in order to clear up the brain area and the nasal passage, Nasya is done. If practiced properly this therapy can also be done at home. It clears the passage that allows for proper breathing, elimination of mucus, getting rid of congestion, cold and cough. This treatment can be done each morning and evening, depending on the severity of the condition. Medicated oil or ghee or sometimes water can also be used through the nose to massage the nasal passage for proper breathing. Nasyam is a remedy for nasal congestion, allergies, sinusitis, migraine, headaches, cervical spondylosis, hairfall, premature greying of hair and rhinitis. It helps to cleanse and strengthen the nasal passage and ease the breathing. 5.Rakta Moksha or Purification of the Blood:Rakta Moksha is the purification of the blood which is done in different ways for different ailments. It is beneficial to cure skin diseases, herpes, jaundice, ulcers and many more. Our blood gets impure due to the accumulation of dirt and the kind of unhealthy food that we eat. This leads to various diseases and hence that is the reason why, Rakta Moksha is necessary to purify the blood so that our body functions in a normal way and so that our body is perfectly in balance. Thus, a Panchakarma therapy is one of the most rejuvenating and detoxifying therapy that helps us to transform into a more healthy person. This therapy can be experienced at one of the best Ayurvedic wellness centres in India, namely, Kairali Ayurvedic Centre that is spread in a number of locations, both in India and abroad.
