The closed die forging technique involves pressing hot round bars and their net shaping in closed dies. Closed die forging offers excellent strength and toughness to products.

Better Surface Finish A good surface finish is always guaranteed by deforming the shapes using precise forging dies. In closed die forging, the surface of products is much smoother than the equivalent cast ones.
Low Overall Cost Due to the good surface finish and close tolerances, closed die forging requires little machinery. The unit price is competitive when compared to other processes. So for mass production, the overall cost of closed die forging is low.
Closed die forging is one of the leading manufacturing processes to produce small steel forgings. For large steel forgings, open die forging is always preferred.
