Therefore in Australia, Argentina and many other Western societies mutton is popular, beef in the US, the Sunday roast and Yorkshire pudding in the UK, sauerkraut in Germany – and noodles and ramen in Asian countries. Ramen, for example, goes back to somewhere in the East. One school of thought places it in ancient China, another in 12th century Japan. There is no absolute certainty. Ramen and noodles are eaten all over the world today, probably because there is a much greater than before exposure of cultures to one another. This may also explain the growing popularity of ramen and noodles in Western societies such as, say, the US. Instant noodles were created in 1958 by Momofuku Ando and became an instant hit.
