  1. The Sixth EU Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development Saratov Regional Contact Centre Presentations of Research Proposals under the FP6 Priorities

  2. About SRCC In Saratov region research and elaborations are carried out by more than 60 enterprises and research organizations, including 10 academic and 18 applied-research institutions, 27 design and project organizations, 7 institutes of higher education. Saratov research schools in the fields of radiophysics, electronics, optics, biochemistry, biophysics, ecology, and the humanities are widely recognized inside and outside Russia. Within the structure of industrial production there is an essential part of advanced technology industries, in particular fuel and energy complex (more than 45 %), machine-building (17,5 %) and chemical industry (about 12%). The largest share of all the industrial technological innovations falls at these industries: at machine-building and metal-working – more than 40 %, chemical and petrochemical industry – about 30 %, fuel and energy complex – more than 16 %. Saratov Regional Contact Centre for European Research and Technological Cooperation (SRCC) stemmed from the activity of an initiative group comprising specialists from different research institutes. The activity was realized on the basis of Saratov State Socio-Economic University (SSSEU). It was supported by the Regional Government and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. In February 2005 the agreement on establishing SRCC as a regional component of the national information and consultation infrastructure was signed by the Governour of Saratov Region and the Rector of SSSEU. SRCC is interdisciplinary and its activities cover different research areas being successfully developed in the region and corresponding to the following FP6 priorities: Priority 1. “Life Sciences, Genomics and Biotechnology for Health”; Priority 3. “Nanotechnologies and Nano-Sciences, Knowledge-Based Multifunctional Materials and New Production Processes and Devices”; Priority 5. “Food Quality and Safety”; Priority 7. “Citizens and Governance in a Knowledge-Based Society”; another European programmes where appropriate. Within the framework of each Priority SRCC plays a role of the regional contact point, headed by a Priority Coordinator. Authoritative specialists experienced in participating in international projects are engaged as Priority Coordinators. The main objectives of the Centre are: • To form a regional partnership comprising FP6 and INTAS prospective participants; to create a mechanism of diversified institutions interacting in international scientific and technological cooperation development. • To disseminate information on current and forthcoming projects, workshops, conferences, competitions and other business events organized in the framework of FP6 and INTAS. • To render consulting, training and organisational assistance in: studying the rules and conditions of participation in FP6 and INTAS programmes and project evaluation criteria; searching Russian and European partners for consortium building-up; preparing project proposals. • To provide EC and INTAS with required statistic and analytical information about: the region’s research potential; regional institutions’ participation in the respective programmes; arrangements directed to expand this participation; emerging problems and possible ways of their solution.
