  2. Everything you need to know about the HIPS filament High Impact Polystyrene or the HIPS is a fairly common filament used by most when talking about the 3D printing requisites. This material is generally comprised of a proper blend of rubber and polystyrene. Most people who tend to produce a complex model & don’t want to keep its support material generally pick the HIPS filament. This is because the HIPS filament is dissolvable. The HIPS can be dissolved only if it is comprised of the limonene solution. This particular solution is created from lemon peels, which can be acquired very easily. This is what aids in the dissolving property of HIPS filament. The only issue with this filament is the fact that it cannot be used as a supporting material if the 3D printing is being done with the ABS filament. This is due to the fact that limonene can damage ABS.

  3. Even though ABS filament enjoys a certain level of popularity, what most people do not know is the fact that HIPS is way stronger as compared to the ABS filament. HIPS allows you to paint with it, it is extremely strong, very machinable, and even works perfectly with a good amount of certain adhesives.

  4. The HIPS filament can normally be printed by using a nozzle with temperatures that fall between 220 degrees Celsius and 240 degrees Celsius. However, when using HIPS filament, you should have bed temperature set between 90 degrees Celsius and 110 degrees Celsius.
