  • Data used : College Station GIS database
  • Land Use Analysis  Land use type and zoning classification
  • Hazard Area Analysis  Floodplain zone and soil type
  • Residential Amenity Analysis  Airport, railroad, parks, and

elementary schools

 Land use type: Vacant land

 Zoning classification: Apartment housing

(R-4, R-5, R-6)

Analysis Result :

 169 parcels identified as vacant as well as

zoned as R-4,5,6

Hazard Area Analysis

GIS Analysis

Analysis Criteria :

 Should not be in the 100-year floodplain zones

 Should not belong to the soil types unsuitable

for apartment housing construction

 Should be at least 500 feet away from the above 2 criteria

Analysis Result :

 119 parcels identified as suitable outside the 100-year

floodplain zones (Overall soil type is standard for

residential Housing construction.)

Analysis Criteria

Airport and Railroad Buffer Analysis :

 Should be at least 1 mile away from airport and

railroad.

 Parks and Elementary Schools Buffer Analysis :

 Should be within half a mile walking distance to

parks and elementary schools.

Analysis Result :

 4 final candidate sites identified as apartment housing

development in College Station
