  1. Following the imposition of emergency in 1973 Nationalist political activity nearly came to a standstill situation until the emergency was lifted and general elections were declared in 1977. For unknown rationales, the leaders of Bharatiya Jan Sangh party decided to contest elections to Parliament as contenders of Bharatiya Lok Dal. 98 candidates of Bharatiya Jan Sangh party were elected. It is not quite clear whether the Bharatiya Jan Sangh had officially teamed up with Bharatiya Lok Dal or lost its identity on collaborating with Janata Party at later date. Subsequent to the formation of Janata Party government at the centre, former leaders of Jana Sangh moved an application to Election Commission of India to freeze the name and election symbol of Bharatiya Jan Sangh, which was agreed to. A lot of people thought of it as illegal since the submission of application was not moved at the time of merger but much later once the Bharatiya Lok Dal had amalgamated with Janata Party. Prof. Balraj Madhok, who was considered secondary in Bharatiya Jan Sangh after the unfortunate assassination of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay in Feb. 1968, had joined Bharatiya Lok Dal following the exile from Bharatiya Jan Sangh in 1973. He was its Vice President in 1975. He also moved to Janata Party along with Bharatiya Lok Dal. Prof. Madhok a great nationalist and staunch follower of Hindutva was quite dejected and distressed at his heart with strategies being pursued by Janata Party government. With criminalization of Politics and uncontrolled corruption in all areas, the activist with commitment towards a new philosophy of Bharatiya Jan Sangh decided to structure a new party which was to be the recreation of Bharatiya Jan Sangh with minor changes to suit current Political, social and economic environment.
