  2. About Kawuo • Karamoja Women Umbrella Organization (KAWUO) is a Women’s network formed in 2007 in Karamoja region by Grass root women. Our Vision: Socio-economically empowered and civically engaged women of Karamoja. • To build and promote the local women’s participation in democratic governance and leadership, Women’s Access to justice, Women Economic Empowerment and HIV / Aids prevention response through Lobby, Advocacy and Capacity Building.

About The project • Project Title: Women Empowerment, Action and Voice in Karamoja- (WEAV) • Project Donor: Royal Danish Embassy (RDE), Kingdom of Netherlands, Sweden Sverige and Embassy of Ireland. • Project Duration: April 2025 – Dec. 2027 ( Three years). • Implementing Partners: KAWUO (Lead), AWOTID Initiative -Uganda and KWCG. • Operation Areas: Moroto, Nakapiripirit, Abim, Kaabong and Napak Districts.

  6. Project Goal, Outcomes, Outputs & Activities; Project Goal: To enhance gender responsive governance in Karamoja. Project Outcomes; • Increased participation and influence of women in local public decision-making processes, leading to more inclusive and gender-responsive outcomes. • Enhanced Responsiveness of Local Government & Cultural leaders to Women’s Needs. • Increased acceptance and Appreciation of Women’s rights by the Community

Outcome1: About Women themselves Output 1.1: Women’s capacity to advocate for their rights and influence public decision mking processes built Activities-Needs assessment-Develop women training curriculam-conduct traing of 300 women on advocacy techniques-human rights awareness among 300 women-Conduct 3 Exposure/Exchange visits for women-Evidence generation

Output 1.2: Spaces are created where women engage stakeholders in customary and formal system on their rights 1.2.1: Women reflection meetings 1.2.2: Community dialogues with traditional leaders, Elders, religious leaders, men and boys on women rights: 1.2.3: Coordination meetings between women and key stakeholders (traditional leaders, elders, religious leaders, men and boys on women rights) 1.2.4 Formation and operationalization of Women caucus for strategic engagement of duty bearers at district level 1.2.3 Traditional games and sports between women and traditional elders/men

Output 1.3: Women are facilitated to take up leadership at all levels 1.3.1 Mapping of 200 women willing to participate in elective positions 1.3.2 training of 200 women on Manifesto development, 1.3.3 review meetings with women leaders 1.3.4 Conduct Induction of 200 successful women leaders on their roles and responsibilities

  10. Output 1.3: Women are facilitated to take up leadership at all levels 1.4.1 Conduct Coordination and networking meetings 1.4.2 Conduct Bench marking/learning and exchange visits 1.4.3 Participate in National Level Engagements 1.4.4 Facilitate District Coordination Meetings

Outcome 2: LG officials on women rights Output 2.1: Capacity of LG officials on women rights, and responsiveness to women specific needs fostered; 2.1.1 Training Local Governments on women rights and gender responsive planning and budgeting 2.1.2 Facilitate Local Governments to generate 6 gender responsive policies (ordinances/bi-laws) 2.1.3 Conduct Exchange visits for Local Governments officials who are critical in addressing women issues.

Output 2.2: Safe spaces for women to present their concerns and receive feedback on commitments made by leaders created; 2.2.1- Facilitate women to participate in 3 Annual development planning and budgeting meetings 2.2.2- Facilitate women to participate in 8 community barazas 2.2.3- Organize 8 District service delivery dialogues 2.2.4- Conduct 12 radio talk shows.

Outcome 3: community Output 3.1: Awareness on women rights and importance of women’s participation in decision making processes created. 3.1.1 Develop Message and Campaign Strategy 3.1.2 Conduct 11 Community Awareness campaigns 3.1.3 Conduct 12 Documentation and Results Sharing of the campaigns 3.1.4 Conduct 11 Community dialogues organized, with diverse participation from different community sectors

  14. Output 3.2: A Resource Hub for Advocacy Tools and Information established 3.2.1 Sep up Hub (location and partnership) 3.2.2 Equip the Hub 3.2.3 Conduct Capacity Building of Hub Staff 3.2.4 Promote and Utilize the hub
